Herman, Katz, Gisleson & Cain
Your Louisiana Personal Injury Law Firm
Herman, Katz, Gisleson & Cain fights to get our clients the results they deserve, and we’ve been advocating for victims for over 80 years. Our Louisiana law firm handles cases involving personal injury, sex abuse, product liability, natural disasters, mass torts, and more. We’ve won more than $35 billion for our clients since our founding in 1942. Some notable verdicts that we’ve achieved include $9 billion awarded after the BP oil spill, $47 million after an offshore accident, and $85 million after an industrial explosion. We handle class action lawsuits with thousands of members and complex mass tort cases. We also represent individuals who have been wronged and are the only plaintiffs. No case is too big or too small.
Choosing a lawyer is an overwhelming task, and it can be hard to make the best decision. It’s essential to find a law firm with a good track record. What sets us apart from other lawyers? Our firm was founded by two brothers, and family is still of utmost importance to us. HKGC’s lawyers have decades of experience, including extensive time spent in the courtroom. We know how to handle unscrupulous insurance companies and corporations that try to dodge accountability. We use our knowledge to do everything we can to get you a fair settlement. If a case goes to trial, we’ll fight for you there, too.
Additionally, the community is at the forefront of everything we do at HKGC. Our attorneys and their families live here; many have weathered natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Ida. The issues that affect you affect us, too. Giving back matters to us, which is why we donate our time and money to charities that make the world a better place. Some nonprofit organizations we support include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, United Way of Southeast Louisiana, the Jewish Community Center of New Orleans, and the Louisiana Wildlife Federation. Additionally, our attorneys have received numerous awards for professionalism and legal skill, including U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms,” Best Lawyers in America, and National Trial Lawyers Top 100.

You can schedule a consultation to learn more about our firm and where we practice, even if you don’t live in Louisiana.

Along with personal injury, HKGC represents sex abuse survivors who experienced abuse in churches, nursing homes, college campuses, youth organizations, and workplaces. Our team of attorneys also represents plaintiffs who lose income and property due to natural disasters like hurricanes. Additionally, our lawyers are experienced with mass tort cases resulting from products harming many people, like Roundup and paraquat, popular herbicides that have caused health issues, baby formulas, and toxic exposure events such as the water contamination at Camp Lejeune.
Our team has represented plaintiffs in some of the most noted cases in Louisiana dating back years, and many of our lawyers have decades of experience. Some of our attorneys have practiced law for more than 50 years. Before choosing a law firm, you must ensure they have enough experience to represent you well.
Simply put, we get results. Since our founding, we’ve recovered billions of dollars for our clients. Our attorneys have negotiated large settlements, including the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, and have won awards for their tenacity. We have your best interests in mind and won’t stop fighting until you see justice.
HKGC has seven partners, two associates, and six lawyers who are of counsel. Our team size allows everyone to be involved in the process, and our HKGC partners are often the attorneys who take on the cases.
Most of our work is contingency-fee-based, meaning we only get paid if you do. Initial consultations are free. They allow us a chance to answer your questions and evaluate the case. Some firms charge upfront fees, but our attorneys at HKGC will happily discuss your case at no cost to you.
Honesty, communication, and aggressive advocacy are what you’ll find with the attorneys at HKGC. An attorney is doing you a disservice if they do not honestly convey to you the strengths and weaknesses of your case. Your HKGC attorney may often have to tell you hard truths about your case so that you can make an informed decision. Once you have made your decision about the goals of your case, we will aggressively pursue those goals on your behalf.
