The holiday season is always a wonderful time for the attorneys and staff at Herman, Herman & Katz to give back to our community. As is our tradition, rather than exchanging gifts with each other, we give to a local charity. All of the money contributed is also matched by the partners of the firm, and the size of the donation is doubled.
This year, the staff again chose for our donation to go to Son of a Saint. This charity provides mentorships to boys who are fatherless due to their father’s death or incarceration. They provide these boys with mentorship, emotional support, development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships. Their goal is to graduate self-sufficient, independent thinkers who are leaders and give back to the community.
Son of a Saint is now located at their new facility on 2803 St. Philip St. in New Orleans. The large facility is equipped with a kitchen that can also be used to teach cooking classes, a workout gym, a music room, a desk area with computers, a library, and lots of spaces where the boys who are mentored there can hang out, play games, participate in Son of a Saint’s coordinated activities and meet with their mentors.
HHK managing partner, Brian Katz, along with long time employees, Regina Valenti and Carl Indest, presented the donation to Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, the founder and president of the organization, and Maddie Brenner, the Partnerships Manager at Son of a Saint. Their commitment to these kids and the organization is inspiring and compelling.
