On Saturday, October 15, a crew of staff and attorneys from Herman, Herman & Katz participated in the 2022 New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity Bar & Bench Build. This is the third year in a row we have had the pleasure of working on such a worthy cause. For this event, judges, lawyers, courtroom personnel, law firm staff and their families roll up their sleeves and contribute to building a home for a family in need.
Marguerite Oestreicher, the Executive Director at New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, started off the day by telling everyone about the future homeowner of our build site who is a single mom with a son, daughter and who is also raising her nephew. We were also able to meet the future homeowner and her family and learn what a difference we are making in their lives. The event turn out was so large, that our crew was able to go to a second work site where we were guided by a great group of AmeriCorps volunteers and worked on the exterior of a Habitat home that was nearing completion. We were a smaller group, but we worked hard and accomplished a great deal. It is always great to see what a difference you can make when you work as a team.
We want to thank the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity for the remarkable work they do for our community and for giving us an opportunity to help people in need. We would like to also thank AmeriCorps and their talented volunteers who were enthusiastic and did a wonderful job directing our group. We plan to continue this tradition next year.
