During the holiday season, our firm is always inspired to give back to the community we love. So, rather than exchanging gifts with each other, we choose to pay it forward and give to a local charity. The total funds that are raised by the staff are matched by the partners, doubling the size of the donation.
This year, the staff chose Son of a Saint as our charity. They find this organization uplifting and representing the spirit of the holidays. Son of a Saint provides mentorships to boys who are fatherless due to their father’s death or incarceration. They take boys in crisis and give them emotional support, life skills development, exposure to constructive experiences, and help them form positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships. Their goal is to graduate self-sufficient, independent thinkers who are leaders and give back to the community.
A few of us toured Son of a Saint’s temporary facility at 2541 Bayou Road, New Orleans which is a former church. It is a large and inviting space with lots of room for the boys who are mentored there to hang out, play games with each other, and meet with their mentors. Our managing partner, Brian Katz, and his secretary, our most tenured employee, Beverly Jackson, presented the donation to Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, the founder and president of the organization, and Lila Turner, the Director of Development. We were also able to meet Elliot Henderson, the Senior Brand and Communications Manager, and other valuable team members who keep the organization growing and improving. Their enthusiasm and commitment show why the program for these kids is so successful.
