In 1942, brothers David and Harry Herman founded the New Orleans law firm now known as Herman, Katz, Gisleson & Cain. More than 80 years later, the firm is still family-led, and three generations of the Herman family have practiced law at HKGC.
We represent clients across central and north Louisiana, including Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, New Orleans, Shreveport, and Natchitoches. This isn’t an exhaustive list; our attorneys also represent clients who live in other areas of Louisiana and the U.S.

This time of year, it is dark outside when leaving the office, and we see homes lit up with outdoor lighting, holiday lawn decorations, wreaths on doors, and decorated trees in windows.
I attended a funeral at the end of September that reminded me of the importance of family, friends, and colleagues. The deceased left her mark in the community with her tireless service to the organizations and causes she supported.
